Creative and digital agencies tend to offer far more generic services that can’t offer the specialist skills and SEO experience you need, even with their own internal SEO staff.

You couldn’t have chosen a more flexible platform for your website than WordPress. It is one of several solutions that allows you to control every element of your site and hosting.
That is important to anyone providing SEO services.
WordPress gives you a great foundation for an informational (non-ecommerce) site, but the Woocommerce plugin is an immensely powerful ecommerce solution too.
I include membership and subscription websites in that statement too, because there is almost no type of site that WordPress can’t power.
Having full control of every aspect of a website means that your SEO service can look at every element that Google and other search engines consider.
That isn’t the case with many other website solutions, where hosting is completely “locked-down” and controlled by the provider (Shopify, for example).
Many of the alternative platforms are still excellent, but the hosting element is vital when it comes to fine-tuning SEO and ensuring I can get you to where you want to be on Google.

I began my career as a programmer (developer), but I don’t usually get involved in WordPress site development nowadays.
The skills required for SEO are so specialist and time-consuming that you need to try to focus on constantly updating your knowledge and being ahead of the game.

However, mentioning WordPress in respect of it’s ability for future development and expansion is important.
The open nature of WordPress means that there is very little direction you won’t be able to take your website in.
Furthermore, it means that an SEO consultant can do almost anything they need to on WordPress.
There are countless plugins and ways of expanding the system, all of which have a knock-on effect on WordPress SEO.
The even better news is that very few of them present issues that can’t be addressed, and many give you the ability to strengthen your SEO potential for website visibility, traffic, increased visitor conversions and revenues.
WordPress Hosting for SEO
When your website is hosted through a service that your digital agency or web developer recommend, then the chances are that it is on a server held in a data centre.
If that’s the case, and the hosting server is under the control of the agency or developer, then it is very good news.
Where a website is on what is known as a shared server, that is not fully under the control of the agency/developer, then it isn’t quite as good but isn’t necessarily a major issue.
If your WordPress site is hosted by WordPress themselves (e.g. if you signed up for a WordPress Business or Premium Plan etc.), then that’s not the best scenario.
However, none of these mean I can’t provide my WordPress SEO service. They each allow me differing levels of access to certain things that impact SEO. I’ll tell you what I can and can’t do.
Ultimately, hosting access is the icing on the cake. If you don’t have it, can still get you where you want to be on Google.

SEO services can run to many thousands of pounds, particularly for Woocommerce sites with lots of products and complexity. It all depends on the time you want me to devote to getting you where you want to be. You’re also paying for my WordPress knowledge and expertise.
